A beginner’s guide to anti-ageing skincare

As we all know, ageing is a part of life. However, it is essential to know what ageing is natural and what is caused by external factors. Ageing can be classified as intrinsic and extrinsic.

Intrinsic ageing is when your skin ages with time. This is the natural process of ageing. As you grow older, your body produces lesser collagen and elastin, which results in wrinkles and sagging skin. This, in turn, leads to fine lines. When you hit your 30s is when these lines become more visible.

Extrinsic ageing is caused by external factors such as UV lights, pollution, stress and also smoking. Extrinsic, along with the intrinsic factors, make skin ageing appear faster, and your skin could begin ageing at a younger age as well.

You can take specific steps to delay the ageing process and keep your skin looking healthy.

  1. Protect yourself- Use sunscreen when stepping out of the house as this keeps your skin safe from UV damage. UV rays are one of the main factors that cause the skin to age faster and damage your skin and steal healthy cells.

  1. Add anti-oxidants- Vitamin C rich ingredients like Citrus fruits and berries help reverse signs of wrinkles and pigmentation. Green tea helps reduce UV Damage by improving the body’s natural defence.

  1. Moisturise and hydrate- Dry skin will lead to damaged skin. Use a proper moisturiser during the day and find the best anti-ageing night cream to be applied before bed. While you sleep, your cells will get repaired, and you will look fresh in the morning. When your face is hydrated and moisturised, it will lessen the appearance of ageing and help your skin remain healthy and strong.

It is best to start applying these techniques as soon as possible and not wait until 30. Finding the best anti-ageing cream will help strengthen and hydrate your skin and bring all the goodness back. Create a skincare regime and stick to it every day. Take time out to pamper your skin and take care of your face.
